February 26th to 28th 2010.

Venue

The Venue is the Hotel Grand Chancellor, Cnr Kirkbride & Ascot Roads, Mangere, Auckland.

The hotel is near the Auckland International Airport with a free shuttle from the airport.
The venue is in South Auckland so members south of the Bombay Hills do not have to travel through mid city Auckland traffic to reach the hotel.

Speakers and Talks

The main Speaker, Graham Charles from the UK, will probably give 4 talks (TBC), topics include South American habitats - Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Peru and SE Bolivia, and Habitats in Peril, and the genus Gymnocalycium and Copiapoa - all TBC.

Graham speaks at BCSS branch meetings and conventions in Britain and have also spoken at events in mainland Europe and the USA.

He has made 20 study visits to South America and 2 to Mexico. The CSSA made him a Fellow of their Society in 2005.
His first book ‘Copiapoa’ was published in 1998 and has since co-authored ‘Cacti in Brazil’ with a group of enthusiasts from Germany and the Netherlands.
His latest publication was a general book about the hobby intended for beginners and those wanting to progress their interest in cacti and succulents.
He has served as a member of the editorial group for the New Cactus Lexicon, contributing many photographs to the picture volume.
His current project is a book on the genus Gymnocalycium.

The remaining 4 or 5 talks will be given by Auckland Branch Members - about one talk from each member - TBC.
